As an organization, Meg Quigley has a long history of celebrating the contributions of the trailblazing women bassoonists of our field who have paved the way for so many of us. In 2023, we formalized these efforts as “Shero Awards” to honor and celebrate the contributions of our colleagues who have passed on or who are retired from their primary employment as bassoonists who may have societally been overlooked, but nonetheless continued leading through their artistry by example.
